Embracing Your Christ Inspired Authentic Self

Embracing Your Christ Inspired Authentic Self

Ever feel like you’re juggling the expectations of the world and others while trying to stay true to yourself? It’s a common struggle! The only opinion of who you need to be that matters is Jesus’. Here are some ways you can discover the person He envisions, rather than what others want you to be.

Soul-Searching Conversations with God

The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord that sheds light on one’s inmost being.

Proverbs 20:27 (NIV)

Imagine having a heart-to-heart with the Creator of the universe. Well, you can! Taking moments for introspection and prayer can lead to profound insights. Connecting with God allows you to discover your purpose and realign with the person He created you to be. Sometimes we just have to tell the voices in our head to keep quiet for a moment so you can have the conversations with God that will always encourage, motivate, and inspire.

Through introspection and prayer, we invite God’s light into our innermost selves. Matthew 6:6 reminds us to pray in private, strengthening our connection with God and gaining insight into our unique purpose.

Embrace Humility, Embrace Freedom

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV)

Embracing humility liberates us from the need for others’ approval, granting us the freedom to be our authentic selves.

Humility isn’t about being meek and a door mat for other peoples hurtful behavior. It’s recognizing that your identity isn’t tied to your or others’ opinions. When you let go of the need to conform or attain standards you or others have imposed on you, you find freedom in being authentic. After all, Jesus Himself valued humility – and it’s a path to discovering your true self.

Living Out Gospel Values

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Colossians 3:12 (NIV)

These qualities reflect Jesus’s teachings. When we embody them, we align ourselves with our true identity and purpose. Picture a life lived in love, compassion, forgiveness, and empathy. That’s the life Jesus calls you to lead. When you align your actions with these values, you naturally become more aligned with your true self, rather than trying to fit into the mold others set for you. That’s because you were made by Jesus who IS those values to reflect Jesus THROUGH those values!

Boldly Walking Your Path

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Galatians 1:10 (NIV)

By staying true to our beliefs, even when they differ from societal norms, we demonstrate allegiance to Christ.

Jesus was a trailblazer, unafraid to challenge norms for the sake of righteousness. Channel that spirit! Embrace your beliefs and values, even when they differ from others’. By doing so, you honor your unique journey and contribute positively to the world around you. Mediocrity, lethargy, and comfort will always hold you back from being the on-fire you!

Navigating Peer Pressure with Grace

Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

Proverbs 13:20 (NIV)

Surrounding ourselves with like-minded individuals who share our values helps us withstand peer pressure. Jesus Himself navigated skepticism (John 7:5), showing us that our convictions are worth preserving.

We’ve all felt the tug of peer pressure, but don’t let it sway you from your course. Surround yourself with people who uplift and understand your journey. Remember, Jesus walked His path despite skepticism – and you can too. Operating in grace allows you to hear others opinions without absorbing them. Always remember that others hurtful opinions have pain as their origin and each person has their own story that influences them. Try to see the pain that drives their hurt with eyes of compassion rather than blaming yourself for their pains and past.

His Promises Are For You

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalm 139:14 (NIV)

Christ inspired self-worth comes from recognizing our worth as God’s creation. Embrace your strengths, acknowledge your worth, and celebrate your uniqueness by accepting that His promises are for you personally. This helps you genuinely embrace that you are good enough to walk out His vision for your life. When you appreciate who He has planned you to be you, you naturally start to become the person who, despite situations and others opinions, steps up to His dreams and not the darkness of our own imagination or the nightmares of others.

In Conclusion

By delving into self-reflection, embracing humility, living by Gospel values, courageously walking your path, navigating peer pressure, and cultivating and personalizing His promises, you’re on a journey toward being the person Jesus envisions – free from the expectations of others. As you embrace your true self, you honor your connection with the Divine and inspire others to do the same. Keep shining!
