Base Elements

RECAP

The Purpose of This Project: To rediscover our supernatural and spiritual makeup.

The governance of all things was supposed to be based on the divine elements of the heavenly courts and His character.

GENESIS 1:27 (NLT)

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27 (NLT)

THE TABLE OF DIVINE ELEMENTS

Our physical world intimately replicates the elements from which it was made.

We have created a table to help us understand how these elements blend together to for every building block of our universe – and we will continue discovering – it’s called science.

We cannot find emotions, purpose, passion, identity, and desires on this table, and these are mentioned in scripture more prolifically than any element on the periodic table of elements.

There must be more. God has placed eternity in our hearts, not nitrogen.

This is my first stab at the concept. It is not new theology but rather an attempt to provide a guide that can help us express God more completely in our lives.

The revelation of God’s character grows.

Who Is God?

Elohim in the plural.

Including but not limited to God the Father, God The Son (The Word), and God the Holy Spirit.

Elohim is also used in GENESIS 1:1 (NLT)

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

God made the earth and us in their image… It was the culmination of an expression of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit…

Humanity was made in the composite image of the Father, The Word, and The Holy Spirit.

GOD THE FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT WERE ALL INVOLVED IN THE CREATION OF MANKIND IN THEIR IMAGE.

Each with their own expression and characteristics but at the same time in such complete unity, we sometimes struggle to tell them apart.

FATHER AND SON IN CREATION

1 Corinthians 8:6 (ESV)

Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. 1 Corinthians 8:6 (ESV)

HOLY SPIRIT IN CREATION

Genesis 1:2 (NLT)

The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.  Genesis 1:2 (NLT)

The unique characteristics of God the Father

The unique characteristics of God the Word (Son)

The fruit and empowering characteristics of God the Holy Spirit.

LOVE EXAMPLE

The Father expresses it. The Son demonstrates it, and the Holy Spirit makes it ours.

TRUTH EXAMPLE

Father can not lie He is the source of truth. He is truth itself.

Number2 23:19 (NLT)

“God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not a human, so he does not change his mind. Has He ever spoken and failed to act? Has He ever promised and not carried it through?” Numbers 23:19 (NLT).

The Son demonstrates truth (I am the way the truth and the life).

John 8:31,32 (NLT)

“You are truly My disciples if you keep obeying My teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31,32 (NLT)

The Holy Spirit prevails truth on us (He will be called the Spirit of Truth)

John 14:16-17 (NIV)

“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever — the Spirit of truth” John 14:16-17 (NIV).

TRUTH AS AN IMAGE BEARER

JOHN 8:31,32 (NLT)

“You are truly My disciples if you keep obeying My teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31,32 (NLT)

Freedom is a product of truth. Truth is a divine element.

Strongholds are lies that trap us and keep us from freedom. Operating in the character of God will have us studying truth and not freedom. When we find ourselves trapped in a stronghold, habit, or addiction, we are trapped because you or someone is lying to us.

Truth sets you free, not working out your freedom.

Whenever God spoke about His character and humanity being created to be image bearers, He always followed that with direction on our authority and our relationship with Him.

Remember the Periodic Table? We have created a table to help us understand every building block of our universe – and we will continue discovering – it’s called science.

When we begin to understand the governance of God’s Image in who we are (identity) and to whom we belong (relationship) and continue to discover Him in us – it’s called revelation.

Holy Spirit to Jesus, Jesus to the Father (Relationship).

The Father to Jesus, Jesus to the Holy Spirit (Identity).

GRACE

Every single human being, no matter how much the image of God is marred by sin, or illness, or weakness, or age, or any other disability, still has the status of being in God’s image and therefore must be treated with dignity and respect that is due to God’s image-bearer.

Romans 5:8 (NLT)

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8 (NLT)

PURPOSE

Living with purpose is a life operating in our God-given authority.

To discover our purpose (authority), through grace, we take up our role of being an image bearer (identity), and we defiantly grow our relationship with all three, all the time.

God never asks anything from us that He has not already given us.

Through the Holy Spirit, He provides not only the elements of His character but also hastens the fruit or the consequences of His character in us.

John 6:63 (KJV)

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63 (KJV)

When we begin to operate in the quickening, we begin to walk out our purpose.

THE BASE ELEMENTS OF HIS  CHARACTER

POWER, LOVE, JUSTICE, AND WISDOM

Job 12:13 (NLT)

But true wisdom and power are found in God; counsel and understanding are His. Job 12:13 (NLT)

1 John 4:8b (NLT)

…for God is love. 1 John 4:8b (NLT)

POWER

As an attribute of God’s character, this quality may be defined as His strength of will in which He acts with self-control and perseverance in furthering His plans and purposes.

2 Samuel 22:33 (NLT)

God is my strong fortress, and he makes my way perfect. 2 Samuel 22:33 (NLT)

LOVE

“God is love” (1 John 4:16 and 1 Corinthians 13:13).

Image bearers reflect God’s image and the divine element of love in 4 ways:

  1. A delight in biblical principles
  2. An appreciation of those who live with biblical principles as a priority.
  3. A genuine sympathy with those who serve God and a loving empathy for those who have not found Him yet!.
  4. A generous spirit and a delight to sacrifice in order to help others find the image of God.

JUSTICE

Isaiah 30:18 (ESV)

Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. Isaiah 30:18 (ESV)

Grace is the highest expression of God’s kind of justice.

The justice we find through Jesus and the justice that the Holy Spirit uses to convict and guide our conscience. Injustice repulses God, and it should repulse us accordingly.

WISDOM

This attribute of God may be defined as the confident and hopeful use of His omniscience (knowledge of all things) in order to secure good results.

JAMES 3:17 (ESV)

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. JAMES 3:17 (ESV)

OUR BASE ELEMENTS

Wisdom developed the plan for our salvation.

Power sees that plan to its successful completion.

Justice ensures that God’s perfect law brings balance to those who participate in that plan.

Love will always be the moving force behind that plan.

OUR RESPONSE – INTENTIONAL DISCIPLESHIP
